CRAWFORD NOTCH RETREAT INFO

(from John Anderson)

Mark you calendars for our Crawford Notch ReTreat May 20-23 2016

Treat yourself to a great photography retreat up at the Highland Center Lodge in Crawford Notch.  Just past the Mount Washington Grand Resort Hotel, and just before the Crawford Notch the Highland center is in the middle of the mountains.  Along many hiking paths through the woods for all abilities.  This wonderful facility has been the meeting place for our spring retreat for the past two years.

This year, bring your cameras, and we will work at creating some art.  We have asked artist Thea Dodds to join us to help us take our photographs out of the computer, and onto clear film so we can make Cyanotypes.  The first book of photographs was a book of cyanotype Photograms, one year before Talbot's 'The Pencil of Nature' was published.  The beautiful prussian blue color is made with two simple iron salts and is easily processed in running water after exposure with the sun.  We sensitize our own paper, and we can use all kinds of papers as well as fabric.  This simple photographic process is loads of fun, simple and beautiful.

We will do a print swap!  bring an 8x10 to share, Make one there, OR send John Anderson a file to make a print.

Let us know if you have some ideas for other topics, or wish to share.

Come and join the magic!
