from Barbara Zulkiewicz
Last call for Star island - if you are interested in going to Star Island this year, we are leaving on Thursday. Please sign up as soon as possible at the Star Island website (www.starisland.org). If you have any questions, please email Barbara Zulkiewicz (firstname.lastname@example.org
[Ed. note: As of last week I heard that we had at least 15 attendees, including a nice mix of long time NHSPA members and new comers. In addition to the main workshop being lead by Keith Johnson, there will be presentations by Richard Moore on his "Monhegan Come Again" project, Guy Biechele on infared photography, and David Murray on drone photography. Barb has also set up opportunities to interact with other groups that will be on Star at the same time, at a candle light service, social hours, and chamber music concerts. Below is a repeat of Barb's blurb from the prior newsletter for your reference. It's not too late to sign up for this very special retreat.]
I had an opportunity to meet Keith Johnson recently at an opening reception at the Panopticon Gallery in Boston where he was one of the featured artists. We had a great conversation and I am really looking forward to September. I think Keith will provide a great workshop, along with a guaranteed fun time.
This 4-day photography retreat, now in its 17th year, offers a special opportunity to partake in a photographic forum that will feature a workshop designed specifically for NHSPA by our special guest photographer, Keith Johnson. Keith will also give a presentation of his own work and offer critiques.
Star Island is a gorgeous and magical place with ever-changing surroundings, which will give you an creative channel to take beautiful photographs and allow you to expand your artistic capabilities. You will be able to share your experience with other film and digital photographers, of all levels, who share your passion for this art form.
The workshop fee is $110.00 that includes a one-year membership with the NHSPA (membership for current members will be extended for an additional year).
See the Star Island Corporation website for room and board rates and to register for the conference.
